Hair Prep Instructions

A little prep makes a difference in how your hair looks, feels and styles. Before your first install, follow the steps below and watch our prep video here: [VIDEO LINK]

1. Wash thoroughly.
Shampoo the hair to remove any dust or oils. Gently work the shampoo through the lengths without rubbing or bunching the hair together, then rinse thoroughly.

2. Condition.
Apply conditioner evenly throughout the hair, following the product’s directions, then rinse thoroughly.

Deep conditioning is optional, but we recommend it if the hair feels dry or needs extra moisture. For a deeper treatment, wrap the conditioned hair in plastic and use a hooded dryer or heating cap for about 20 minutes, following your conditioner’s directions. Rinse thoroughly with cool water.

3. Air-dry.
If needed, apply a small amount of leave-in conditioner or treatment serum for added moisture or manageability. Both are optional—choose based on what the hair needs and follow the product’s directions. Allow the hair to dry completely before using a flat iron or curling iron.

4. Style as desired.
Always apply heat protectant before heat styling. Use a holding spray if needed—we recommend Paul Mitchell’s Hot Off The Press. If you’re curling the hair, pin each curl and let it cool completely before taking it down to help the style hold.

Why consistent care matters
Our hair is natural and cuticle-intact, without silicone or chemical coatings added to create temporary softness and shine. It needs moisture and regular care, just like your own hair. Washing, conditioning and protecting it during styling help keep it soft, manageable and looking its best. Good prep and consistent maintenance help you get longer wear and better results over time.
